Girl with her beautifully crafted Friendship bracelet

This week we had a visit from Jane and Sheila who spent a couple of hours with us giving out fruit and friendship bracelets that were kindly made by Pauline Blackburn, Marisa Ellis and the 3rd Stowmarket Guide Company. We reached the first slum only to find just two children; the other children had gone to their village to celebrate a Hindu festival and would be back in a few days.

There were plenty of bracelets so Robert will give them out in the coming week when the children return. Thankfully the second area was a little more active, and around 20 children lined up. Robert went to speak to a couple of the families while Jane and Sheila started to distribute the fruit. The children received two pieces of fruit each and then queued up eagerly when they saw the friendship bracelets. A few of the older girls received the loom band kits at Christmas, courtesy of Penny Ginn so were interested to see a few new designs in the bag full of bracelets. When we finished we headed off to another area and gave out the remaining fruit and a few more bracelets.

Our thanks go to Pauline Blackburn, Marisa Ellis and the 3rd Stowmarket Guide Company who kindly made the friendship bracelets, Wetherden Church and the Guides for gifts in kind and also Sylvia and John Emsden, Lesley and Don Beattya and Ray and Jan Taylor for their financial contribution. Last but not least, to Jane and Sheila. It was a great day, made possible by your support.
